Lapse of entitlement

An applicant may claim the allowance retroactively for a maximum period of 6 months.

The entitlement to the parental allowance expires:

• as of the first day of the calendar month following the month in which the child reaches a given age (up to 3 years of age, or 6 years of age if the child has a chronic medical condition, up to 6 years of age if the child has been placed in non-parental care, and a maximum of 3 years from the date on which the decision placing the child in the custody of the same beneficiary becomes final);
• on the death of the beneficiary or child.
